Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Trust: Equality Impact Assessment Training

We worked with Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust providing introductory training on Equality Impact Assessments to senior managers.

We subsequently undertook an audit to make recommendations as to how the Trust could:

  • Identify (or anticipate) priorities on equality issues relating to its policies and practice for all six strands of equality (i.e. race/ethnicity, gender, disability, age, religion, sexuality)
  • Identify existing good practice in equalities
  • Assess the effectiveness of its equality policies and the procedures which support these
  • Clarify the role of staff networks.

As a result of this work, the Trust is better able to:

  • Reduce any adverse impact identified
  • Deliver on the NHS’s national agenda on equality and social inclusion
  • Deliver on the Trust’s own equality agenda and mainstream equality and diversity throughout all its functions
  • Ensure organisational compliance with equality legislation and statutory regulations.
