London Deanery: Diversity, Equal Opportunities and Human Rights

Equality Works has a long standing relationship with London Deanery and has run a wide range of training programme for their staff from Board level downwards. In 2007 Equality Works was asked by the Deanery to produce the script for an e-learning programme which would be available on their website as part of a modular programme for Clinical Teachers. The module was called ‘Diversity, Equal Opportunities and Human Rights’.

The module that Equality Works was responsible for followed a set format outlined by London Deanery. It consisted of web based learning tools, quizzes, case studies, as well as descriptive text. The modules was written to specifically address the role of clinical teachers and covered:

  • What is Equality and Diversity?
  • Discrimination;
  • Valuing diversity;
  • Institutional discrimination;
  • The legal context;
  • Challenging discrimination in the teaching context; and
  • Human rights.

The module was positively received and the development programme has recently been submitted for formal peer review and consideration for online publication in MedEdPORTAL. Click here to view the modules online.
