In our September newsletter, we talked about how public sector agencies were using their procurement processes and ‘buying power’ to engage private and third sector partners in delivering improved equality outcomes. In this issue we are happy to share with you some exciting developments from the private sector perspective.
We’ve been fortunate recently to work with some of the country’s best-known ‘brand names’ involved in large scale infrastructure development projects. They are keen to build their Equality and Diversity strategy as a competitive advantage in public sector bidding processes.
This is a really exciting development and what we have been pleased to see is how keenly these private sector partners have engaged with this agenda. As in any organisation, the Executive Teams and Boards want to be clear that investing in an Equality and Diversity strategy will help them achieve their business goals which are increasingly about contributing to the community as well as generating shareholder value.
At Equality Works we know that, in more cases than not, effective equality and diversity management will contribute to delivering against business goals. This applies whether they are in relation to improving competitiveness through supply chain diversity; improving your “employer brand” and being known as a great place to work; or expanding creativity and innovation by leveraging the value of diverse teams.
We love to see leaders having those AHA! moments when they see the business benefit and commit both personally and organisationally to providing the leadership required to drive change.
