EW Group is increasingly working on many levels of equality and diversity with clients in the area of criminal justice, including the police, courts, Probation Service and legal practices.
Projects have included training in recruitment and selection, diversity training and Equality Impact Assessments – all aimed at equipping staff to meet high standards of practice in relation to diversity.
The modular approach to much of the training we provide is highly relevant to the regulatory environment in which these clients are working and is consistent with The Business Excellence Model advocated by the Probation Service.
We particularly value our long standing relationships with NPS - Essex and NPS - Hertfordshire, as they reflect the fact that delegates not only enjoy our interventions, but that they make a positive difference to individual and organisational performance.
With over 3,000 staff, London Probation is a large and complex organisation operating in a challenging political, social and economic environment. Equality Works has been working in partnership with London Probation on two major organisational development projects since December 2007.
We first started working with NPS North Yorkshire in 2004 when we were commissioned to provide a range of organisational support on Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA). This initially included:
We have been working with NPS - Hertfordshire for over 5 years, providing a wide range of services. One of our commissions was to design and deliver a Management Development programme specifically for them..
Our partnership with NPS - Essex goes back over five years working on many levels of diversity and equality. We have designed and delivered training on: Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion; Recruitment and Selection; Performance Management; and briefings and facilitations for senior staff on a range of issues. We are currently involved in developing management development training programmes for middle and senior staff for six and twelve month periods. This training would support the Recruitment and Selection and Equalities training that we are currently providing in Essex.
We were commissioned by Avon and Somerset Constabulary to conduct an Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) on the complaints procedure administered by Professional Standards Department (PSD).
The decision to carry out an EqIA was prompted by concern that a disproportionate number of complaints were being received from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people in comparison to their white counterparts. The force was keen to ensure that the PSD provides a fair, consistent and equitable service.
Equality Works have been enormously helpful in helping devise the programme and in helping us deliver it.
