Services

Changes in the legislative environment are having a knock-on effect on companies and organisations in the services sector. For example, organisations wishing to bid for government and public sector contracts have to clearly demonstrate their commitment to equality and diversity.

Equality Works is helping businesses like Capita Resourcing, MITIE and Serco not just to achieve minimum compliance standards but also to derive real business benefits from their commitment to this new agenda.

Capita Resourcing commissioned us to train managers to understand their duties in relation to Equality Impact Assessment in order to complete assessments as part of the contract with Cumbria County Council.

MITIE commissioned Equality Works to do a brief audit of their capacity to demonstrate the level of good practice relating to equality and diversity that is now required in public sector contract bids.

Serco Docklands commissioned Equality Works to design and implement an equality and diversity questionnaire to clarify which areas are currently covered by the law and to reinforce a good practice approach.

Clients in this sector include:

  • Capita
  • MITIE
  • Serco

Case studies:

Serco: Equality and Diversity Questionnaire

We were commissioned by Serco Docklands to work on the design and analysis of a questionnaire.

Firstly, we designed a questionnaire for all managers and supervisors in Serco Docklands to assess current levels of their knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues. The goal was to design the questionnaire in ways that would enable Serco Docklands to track progress in the future and to use in other parts of the business.

MITIE: Diversity in Bids

There have been interesting and innovative developments recently in the field of Equality and Diversity. In particular, the legislative environment has changed and this is having an effect on companies and organisations wishing to demonstrate their commitment to this new agenda and to derive business benefits from that commitment. For instance, organisations wishing to bid for government and public sector contracts are now finding that the requirements relating to Equality and Diversity have changed considerably.
